Saints Sink their Teeth into Second

KSCB News - February 4, 2013 7:20 am

Seward never allowed a big Saturday night crowd to get into the game in an impressive 71-60 win at #19 Barton Saturday night. The Saints stake their claim to second by their lonesome right now at 7-2 while the Cougars settle for 6-3.

The Saints led 33-22 at the half and led throughout the second half as well. Seward held Barton’s Algie Key to 13 points on 3-13 shooting. He averages 19 per game. Point guard Turon Parker, who scored 22 the first time against Seward, scored just 10.

Jabari Peters led the Saints with 20 points and nine rebounds while shooting 4-7 from three point range. Kaheem Ransom scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. Edson Avila scored 16 in the win. The Saints are 16-7 overall while the Cougars are 19-4. The win marks Seward’s fifth straight win at Barton.

Seward hosts Colby Wednesday at 8 p.m. on B107.5 and kscbnews.net. McDonald’s is the buyout sponsor.
