Seward Blacks Out Hutchinson

KSCB News - October 11, 2012 7:14 am

The second place Seward County Saints refused to allow first place Hutchinson to go undefeated in the Jayhawk West. After beating Hutchinson 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 27-25, 15-11) Wednesday night in front of a frenzied Green House crowd, the Saints huddled and broke down to "our house." They certainly played with a determination to protect their home court.

They also moved Satanta’s Aubree Young to libero for the first time and played with an enthusiasm and togetherness which had Saints fans watching eagerly from the edge of their seats.

Seward’s season seemed to be on the brink after frustrating road losses at Frank Phillips Monday and at Colby Saturday. Now the Saints are back in a race for the Jayhawk West crown. Seward is 14-16 overall but 8-2 in the Jayhawk West and Hutch is 18-6 overall and 10-1 in the Jayhawk West.

Two Liberal High School players played in this game. Lakeria Eatmon of Seward and Ashlyn Westerman of Hutchinson.

Seward plays at the Missouri-West Plains tournament this weekend.
