A Heartbreaker in Hays

KSCB News - October 5, 2012 6:47 am

Liberal was four minutes away from changing the momentum of their season. The Redskins led 2-0 with four to go only to see Hays score two goals to tie it and then stun the Redskins in overtime 3-2. Three unanswered goals drops the Redskins to 1-5 in the WAC.

Esteban Michel and Jason Rios scored Liberal’s two goals and Rios assisted Michel. It’s Liberal’s third straight loss, but it also marks the third straight game the Redskin led their opponent in the shots on goal statistic. The Skins out-shot the Indians 11-8 but lost the game as Hays sweeps the season series.

Liberal is 3-7-1 overall. They open play in the Wichita North Cup Tuesday at 5:15 against Wichita Heights.
