Moscow Looks for More

KSCB News - August 21, 2012 2:31 pm

It is rare that a school Moscow graduates three athletes who go on to compete in college sports. But that is the case as Osvaldo Granillo is in track at Central Missouri State, Breck Roop is playing basketball at Garden City, and Jon Manriquez is playing football at Dodge City. But don’t feel too sorry for the Moscow Wildcats because the cupboard at the 8 man division 2 school is far from bare. The Wildcats return five starters on offense and defense from a team which went 8-2 last season. Travis Johnson enters his second year as head coach with the entire line returning. Interest is high in football as 19 of 25 boys in the high school are out for Moscow Wildcat football.

The Wildcats will rely on punishing line play this season led by senior te/de Rigo Bustillos, senior c/de Jaron Thompson, senior lg/mlb Easton Bohl, and senior g/dl Aldo Enns. Senior Lane Miller takes the reigns from Roop at quarterback and also plays outside linebacker. Sophomore Alexis Manriquez moves from defensive end to fullback and also plays linebacker.

Moscow was featured during the Tuesday Sportsguys on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Click on the audio icon to hear from Johnson and the Moscow captains.
