KSCB News - June 19, 2012 6:52 am

It was a long night for the Denver Bombers of the Colorado Collegiate Baseball League. Liberal scored a mind boggling 11 runs in the first, eight in the second, and one in the third. It was 20-0 after three innings.

As you might imagine, many BJ’s had big nights offensively as Liberal scored 20 runs on 23 hits. Wichita State’s Dayne Parker and Texas Pan American’s Jacob Huckaby both slammed three run homers. Huckaby was 2-4 and drove home five runs. Parker was 2-4 with three RBI’s. UTA’s Travis Sibley was 5-6 at the dish while UTA’s Derek Miller, Cisco’s Eric Tate, and Seward’s Tanner Rainey had three hits a piece. Rainey drove home four runs. OCU’s Dalton Bernardi added two hits.

On the mound, Frank Phillips left hander Brad Wieck pitched four scoreless innings with five strikeouts and two walks. Seminole State’s Cale Russell pitched three innings allowing one run.

The Bee Jays have won six straight and eight of the last nine are are 11-3 overall. The Denver Bombers fall to 4-8. The two teams meet Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on Brent Gould Field. The Apple Hutch is the buyout sponsor.
