Monday morning at the Texas County Commissioners Meeting, the discussion of placing a burn ban into effect or keeping it off was one of the topics.  In the end with 3 yes votes, the Commissioners decided to keep the Burn Ban off for the remainder of the week which includes July 4th.  This is significant as this allows the public and citizens to discharge fireworks on July 4th in celebration of the 250thAnniversary of Americas Independence.  

Guymon Fire Chief Grant Wadley said, “Danger increases when fireworks are involved and our dry conditions are still present even though the Burn Ban is off”.  Texas County Fire Departments are on increasing alert and response readiness this week.  Be mindful of others, be firework safe, and know your surroundings while celebrating July 4th activities.
