Brock Kappelmann - May 1, 2023 6:21 am

LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County Athletic Department once again held their annual student-athlete banquet to recognize all the accomplishments that the student-athletes had during their 2022-2023 seasons. The banquet, held on Friday, April 28th in The Greenhouse, saw many members of the SCCC and Liberal community on hand to show their support for Saint student-athletes.

The banquet was kicked off with words of encouragement from President Brad Bennett as he addressed the student-athletes to continue their hard work through finals week. After President Bennett’s speech, a coursed-out meal was served by Great Western Dining that concluded with a brownie cheesecake. As the dinner concluded, each program’s head coach brought their teams to the podium to discuss the 2022-2023 year and the excitement for next year’s season. During this time, the Women’s Basketball team awarded Halima Salat the Jamie Talbert Award, and the Baseball team awarded Garrett Hall the Wade Johnstone Award.

Once each program addressed the crowd, Athletic Director Dan Artamenko recognized all of the academic and athletic achievements for this year’s Saints. Artamenko awarded team MVPs for each program and Freshman and Sophomore of the Year.

Each program voted on their team’s MVP for the 2022-2023 and the list of each program’s MVP is listed below:

Tennis: Camille Belberka
