Young Redskin Tennis Team Shows Promise in Great Bend

The LHS boys tennis squad traveled Saturday to compete in the Great Bend Invitational Tennis Tournament. Liberal competed with teams from Dodge City, Garden City, Great Bend, Hoisnington, and Ellinwood. Liberal earned 3rd Place team honors behind 3rd Place finishes from #1 Singles player, Joseph Cotto, and #2 Singles player (Senior) Adrian Amado. With a grand total of 3-weeks tennis experience under his belt, Cristiano Maria teamed up with Alejandro Norez to knock off the #1 doubles team from Dodge City in an exciting tie-breaker match. To round off the LHS squad, Alan Gayton and Trevin Garcia gained valuable experience in their Varsity tournament debut. Great Bend took 1st Place team honors with 50 points, Garden City took 2nd with 40 points, and Liberal took 3rd Place with 18 points. Liberal travels to Goddard on Saturday.
