Young Forgan Looks to Take Next Step

KSCB News - August 28, 2009 12:00 am

Forgan won the 1974 state title and finished as the runner up in 2002. The Class C Bulldogs hope they are beginning another trek to the top with a young but experienced team in 2009. The Bulldogs went 4-6 last year after one win the previous season. Key Forgan players include sophomore qb/db Rhett Radcliff, sophomore te/de Ryan Radcliff, junior ol/lb Taylor Eagan, senior fb/lb Miguel Ordonez, sophomore c/ng Tanner Jones, and junior ol/de Angel Torres.

Doug Bowles says all arrows point up for Forgan. “They can’t do anything but get better,” Bowles said. “They improved a lot last year so we’re looking forward to better things this year is they can stay healthy.” He says the Bulldogs gained a swagger last year. “I think we gained an aggressiveness and confidence in the things we can do,” Bowles said. “We got better technique wise and I was pleased with that.”

Rhett Radcliff leads the offense at quarterback. Bowles says he learned as the season went on as a freshman. “Rhett struggled early on last year as a freshman quarterback,” Bowles said. “He’s a good runner. We can run the option with him. He throws the ball well. He can make some things happen offensively.”

Forgan has 17 players out for football. Bowles was a guest on the Sportsguys Friday morning on Talkradio 1270.
