The Liberal Police Department in conjunction with approximately 150 other law enforcement agencies in the State of Kansas will be cracking down on impaired driving. The Liberal Police Department will be increasing patrols by staffing additional officers in order to arrest those who choose to drive under the influence, beginning on August 15th, 2013 through September 2rd, 2013.

“It is not uncommon for 5 Kansans to be injured and 1 person killed every 3 days on Kansas roads in alcohol related crashes,” said Captain Jon Antrim of the Liberal Police Department. “Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like the You Drink, You Drive, You Lose campaign reduces alcohol-impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Liberal’s roadways safer for everyone throughout the Labor Day period.”

In addition to cracking down on impaired drivers, officers of the Liberal Police Department will be strictly enforcing the states seatbelt laws during this time period. Remember if You Drink, You Drive, You Lose. For more information contact the Liberal Police Department at 620-626-0141.
