A wildfire scorched approximately 2,500 acres in southwest Kansas before firefighters brought the blaze under control Friday evening.
The fire was first reported shortly before 4 p.m. CDT a few miles south of Manter. Emergency crews from Morton and Grant counties in Kansas responded to the scene, with additional assistance from firefighters in Baca County, Colorado.
Aircraft were also deployed to help Santon County crews combat the rapidly spreading flames.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the wildfire. Investigators are continuing to assess the situation.
