Weekend Storm Causes Sports Changes

Joe Denoyer - May 1, 2017 1:38 pm

The heavy snow, rain, and power outages have altered the local sports scene again.

Liberal’s golf tournament at Great Bend, WAC tennis tournament at Garden City, C team baseball and softball, and middle school track meet at Ulysses were all postponed on Monday.  LHS softball at Wichita Southeast and girls soccer at Wichita North will play as scheduled.

Liberal’s baseball games scheduled to host Garden City on Tuesday were postponed to Wednesday, May 10. But now there is a strong chance those games will be played Tuesday at 4 on 1270 and kscbnews.net

Liberal’s track meet at Garden City Tuesday has been moved to Thursday.

This from OSSAA:

***Due to extreme travel issues in the panhandle, the Track and Field Regional Meet scheduled at Laverne High School for Monday, May 1st has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 2nd beginning at 11:00 a.m. The coaches meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m.***

***The Regional Track Meet at Chisholm on Monday, May 1st will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the coaches meeting starting at 9:30 a.m.***

***The Class 5A Boys Regional Golf Tournament scheduled for Monday, May 1st at Augusta National Golf Course in Guthrie has been moved to Brent Bruel Golf Course in Purcell due to flooding in Guthrie.***

***Because of the forecast for inclement weather Saturday, April 29th we will postpone the Track and Field Regional Meets for Classes 4A-3A-2A-A until Monday, May 1st. This change will not effect the schedule for the State Meets scheduled for May 5th and 6th.***
