Vargas Restaurant kicks off the Eat Out for United Way campaign

KSCB News - October 13, 2015 8:04 am

If you can eat, you can donate to the Seward County United Way. Four restaurants are on the schedule to help out the United Way in October and November. “We are lucky to have these restaurants participating in our 2016 campaign ,” said McKensie Hood, executive director of the Seward County United Way. She explains this is her first year doing the Eat Out Nights. “ I am glad that these restaurants have pledged to give us a portion of their proceeds for their day and time. All you have to do is eat at the restaurant during their United Way time and you’ll be supporting the Seward County United Way’s 26 local agencies. Enjoy and evening eating out with your family and giving back to your community.”

The first “Eat Out for United Way” will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Vargas Restaurant. "Vargas has a long history with Seward County United Way," said Hood, "and I am glad they are participating in yet another Eat Out for United Way.” Orders for carry-out also count.

The second “Eat Out” is Spencer Browne’s from 2 p.m. to close, Thursday, Oct. 22. "We really appreciate the support Spencer Browne’s gives Seward County United Way" said Hood. “What better way to warm up with a bowl of soup or a latte and give back to your community.”

The Third “Eat Out” is at the North and South Pizza Hut’s from 5 – 9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29. It will be in conjunction with Garden City, Dodge City, Hugoton and Meade. This will be the fifth year when all the Pizza Huts in the region have done an Eat Out on the same day. Delivery and carry-out orders also count.

The fourth and last “Eat Out for United Way” will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Ruffino’s Italian Restaurant at the Depot. This will be the seventh year that Ruffino’s has joined with us for an Eat Out event. Get a taste of Italy while giving back to your community.

Hood said, “We will have Seward County United Way volunteers on hand to thank the diners and to help in any way that we can. This is a fun way for people to show support for United Way and also to support the restaurants who have made the commitment to help in our community."
