USD 480 Board Meets and Hears From Contractor

KSCB News - September 22, 2015 6:01 am

Faulty concrete has caused an issue at one of Liberal’s future school sites. The USD 480 school board met Monday night and heard from DLR and J.E. Dunn regarding the construction of Eisenhower Middle School on north Western. Concrete used in the project has not met specifications and has caused an issue with concrete footing in a small section. They hope to have the issue resolved in several weeks.

The district renewed their one year service contract with Johnson Controls for heating and air conditioning for $209,725.51. The board voted to purchase a school bus to boost the fleet for the regular bus route for 35,981 dollars. The board approved a contract for High Plains for sign language and interpreter services. They will pay a person to 10 dollars an hour one day a week for interpreter and sign language services for some of Liberal’s students. The board also hear a report on food service from Connie Vogts regarding the district’s food services and federal requirements.
