UPDATE:Police Apprehend Suspect After Shooting In Liberal

On Friday, January 24, 2014 at about 4:30 p.m., two additional suspects were apprehended in Plains, Kansas. The suspects, a 17 year old male and a 15 year old male, were apprehended without incident with the assistance of the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, Seward County Sheriff’s Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

No other suspects are being sought in connection with this incident at this time; however, the investigation is ongoing.

On Friday, January 24, 2014 at about 2:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting victim at the 100 block of West Walnut. Responding officers located a 24 year old male and a 17 year old female with apparent injuries. They were transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS. The male was subsequently transported to Wesley Medical Center in serious condition.

Investigators learned that two armed males confronted the male victim at the door to his residence. The male victim began to struggle with one of the suspects and was shot. The female victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the shooting. Evidence located at the scene suggests the shooting was drug related.

A 15 year old male was apprehended without incident. Investigators are seeking a second suspect identified as Emmanuel Goytia. Goytia is 17 years old. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Goytia has a mole on his left cheek near the jaw line. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
