Ulysses Wins Boys Cross Country Regional

Ulysses scored 91 points to win their 4A regional Saturday at Lake Afton near Goddard. Hugoton placed second with 93 points. Both teams qualify for state. Israel Mendoza of Ulysses won the race at 17:12. Hugoton’s Jeber Jiminez placed seventh at 17:55. Patrick Weaver was ninth for Hugoton at 18:04. Cort Malone of Ulysses placed 18th at 18:33. Ulysses’ Kyle Zerr was 21st at 18:40. Hugoton’s Laton Heger was 26th (18:57). Martin Herrera of Ulysses was 28th (19:08). Hugoton’s Derek Schnittker was 29th (19:10). Teamate Christian Escalera was 30th (19:13). Carlos Galindo of Ulysses was 31st (19:14). Emilio Duran of Ulysses was 33rd at 19:18. Chase Hittle of Hugoton was 35th at 19:19. Collin Widder of Ulysses was 36th (19:24).

In the girls race, Janni Meierhoff of Ulysses placed fourth to qualify for state (16:32). Hugoton’s Marina Neira placed ninth to qualify for state (16:53).
