SALINA, Kan. — A man from Ulysses was arrested Wednesday morning following an alleged assault at a Salina hotel, according to police.
Officers with the Salina Police Department responded to the Quality Inn, located at 2110 W. Crawford Street, at approximately 6:45 a.m. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. Authorities were advised that the suspect vehicle had already left the scene.
An investigation determined that a 48-year-old woman had been involved in an argument with an acquaintance identified as 21-year-old Ryan Mason of Ulysses. Hotel employees reported initially witnessing a verbal dispute, which later escalated into a physical altercation.
According to police, Mason was observed standing over the victim and striking and kicking her while she was on the ground. He also allegedly took her cellphone and smashed it, then removed a set of keys and a white bag before fleeing the area.
Using the Flock camera system, officers tracked the suspect vehicle traveling westbound out of the city. A traffic stop was later conducted near Crawford Street and Burma Road, where Mason was taken into custody without incident.
Police reported recovering the victim’s keys and bag, along with suspected personal-use drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Mason was booked into the Saline County Jail on multiple charges, including robbery, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and an outstanding warrant.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and face but declined medical treatment.
