Two Liberal Residents Killed After Trailer Detaches

A detached trailer killed two and injured one Thursday. Two Liberal residents lost their lives when a trailer disconnected from a vehicle in rural Meade County Thursday afternoon. Seventy-one year old Salvador Garcia and 68 year old Consuelo Garcia died after the crash. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports 44 year old Brian Stump of Hugoton was driving north on Meade County Road 4 when the trailer attached to the vehicle disconnected and crossed the centerlane. Forty-six year old J Santos Garcia was driving south when his car collided with the trailer killing his two passengers. Garcia was injured and taken to Southwest Medical Center. The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. about 12 miles north of Plains. Salvador and Consuelo Garcia passed away at about 7:15 Thursday night.
