The Truancy Plan passes. The USD 480 school board passed the plan for three truancy officers at Liberal’s schools 6-0 Wednesday afternoon at central office. That’s after the city commission passed the plan 4-1 last week and the county commission passed the plan 5-0 Tuesday night.
Adolescent Support Services of Liberal’s Ivanhoe Love Jr. put together the plan. The plan will cost the city, county, and the school district about 57-thousand dollars a piece. It will include three truancy officers. One will be stationed at Liberal High School while the two other officers will be stationed at each middle school. The officers at the middle schools will also overlook the intermediate school closest to them.
