KSCB News - March 14, 2012 3:39 pm

A 47 year-old Texas man was hurt when the semi he was driving was struck by a train two miles west of Goodwell on Monday afternoon.
Fidel Mendoza Holguin, of Cactus, was driving a 2004 Peterbilt southbound on a county road just north of the railroad tracks parallel to Highway 54 at 1:45 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a westbound Union Pacific train. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the driver of the semi failed to observe the train, causing the collision.
The semi traveled off the right side of the roadway and rolled a quarter mile before coming to rest on the driver’s side.
The driver was taken to Memorial Hospital of Texas County and then transported to Amarillo, where he was admitted to the hospital with internal injuries. He was listed in stable condition.
The accident was investigated by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Brown of the Hooker Detachment and assisted by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, the Texhoma Police Department and Texhoma EMS.
