SWMC Welcomes Baby Rigley as 2024 New Year’s Baby

Joe Denoyer - January 4, 2024 11:54 am

LIBERAL, KS – Southwest Medical Center (SWMC) proudly announces the arrival of the 2024 New Year’s Baby, Rigley Wayne Settlemyer, born on January 1st, 2024, at 2:59 a.m. to ecstatic parents Casey and Beth Settlemyer. This delightful addition to the Settlemyer family weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and measured 21 inches long.

Rigley’s birth marks a generational connection as his father, Casey, also entered the world at SWMC 39 years ago, with the same skilled hands of OB/GYN Physician, Dr. Dennis Knudsen, who delivered both father and son.

Joining his older siblings, Sadie (6), Rylee (4), and Cody (2), Rigley’s birth has brought immense joy to the Settlemyer family and the community. The family received a heartwarming celebratory gift basket from Southwest Medical Center in honor of Rigley being the 2024 New Year’s Baby.

Southwest Medical Center is renowned for its exceptional maternity care, having delivered over 748 babies in 2023 alone. Recognized for their commitment to excellence, SWMC was awarded the prestigious Blue Distinction®+ Award by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS), underscoring their dedication to top-tier maternity care that prioritizes quality and cost-efficiency.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Rigley Wayne Settlemyer as our 2024 New Year’s Baby and to continue our legacy of providing exceptional care to growing families,” expressed SWMC CEO Amber Williams.

SWMC also extends a supportive hand to expectant parents with free childbirth classes designed to equip them with essential knowledge about labor signs, relaxation techniques, and infant care. The sessions cover crucial topics like breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, ensuring that newborns receive the best nutritional start in life.
