Sutherland, Davis second, Salas Third at state

Seniors Tyler Sutherland and Nate Davis finished second in the 5A Wrestling meet in Wichita Saturday. In the 152 weight devision Suthlerland fell to Andover Centrals’ Chris Watson, 5-2. Sutherland finished the year with a 39-3 record. Nate Davis fell to Great Bends’ Aron Elsen in a controversial 6-5 decision in 189. Davis led 3-2 with 30 seconds remaining but Elsen rallied for victory. Davis defeated Elsen in two other matchs this year. Adrian Salas finished third in 112 beating Sexton of Bonner Springs, 9-4. Liberal finished 6th overall. Pre-tournament favorite Emporia won the team title.
