Sublette Looks to Kraft More Wins in 2014

KSCB News - August 28, 2014 1:39 pm

Sublette fell on hard times the past two years. The Larks slumped to 1-8 last year after a 2-7 season in 2012. For a program accustomed to winning seasons and playoff appearances, malaise seemed to swallow up the program the last several years. Sublette had only about 20 out for football last year. Coach Steve Simpson left Sublette to coach at Abilene. Faron Kraft came from Leoti to coach the Larks. With the change, there has been a wave of student support at the 2A school. The Larks have 38 out for football including 10 seniors. There are seven starters back on both sides of the ball for Kraft who also coached at Medicine Lodge and is the nephew of Seward volleyball coach Bert Luallen.

Some of the key Larks include Sr. LT/DE Sam Massey, Sr. RB/OLB Wyatt Brown, Sr. QB/FS Nate Cearley, Sr. MLB/TE Jayden Garetson, Jr. RB/LB Sebastian Morales, Sr. lineman Kevin Richards, and Sr. TE/CB Obed Moraz.

The Larks were featured during the Sportsguys Thursday morning.
