State Wrestling Changes Venues

The Kansas Coliseum has become synonimous with State Wrestling in Kansas. But times are changing and the sparkling new Intrust Bank Arena in downtown Wichita swooped in to grab the 6A and 5A state wrestling tournaments in 2010. The executive director of the Kansas State High School Actiivities Association Gary Musselman says a contract was signed last month. The Coliseum hosted 5A wrestling from 1985-2007. A boat show moved the meet to Hutchinson in 2008 before returning to northwest Wichita this year. Liberal placed sixth at state this year with 92 points after placing third the year before. Head coach Mike Pewthers is hosting team camp this week.
