Spring Enrollment Opens Nov. 6 with Two Flexible Options

LIBERAL, Kan. — Enrollment for the spring semester at Seward County Community College will open Monday, Nov. 6, announced vice president of academic affairs Luke Dowell. Though the College had originally scheduled to open enrollment a week earlier, SCCC opted for more time to wrap up some billing issues.

“We want to make sure everything is correct for the spring so there aren’t barriers for students,” said Dowell. “Advisors can still meet with students to discuss their courses for the spring and we’re encouraging students to take advantage of this and create a plan that will move them toward their goal.” Dowell also highlighted two fresh options SCCC will offer students: a winter session and the newly launched online platform Saints Anywhere.

“Our winter session offers courses that run from Dec. 12 to Jan. 1, and enrollment for those classes is already open,” said Dowell. “It’s a high-intensity online option that provides an opportunity for a student to finish a complete course over the holiday break.” SCCC piloted several such classes in 2022 and will offer a few more in 2023. Thus far, the options include introduction courses in computer concepts, leadership and business, as well as art appreciation, OSHA (workforce safety), and medical terminology.

Spring semester offers a full catalog of online courses through the newly crafted Saints Anywhere platform, an upgrade from the previous online consortium EduKan.

“We’ve been prepping for this nearly a year, and we will offer our Saints students the most popular and frequently enrolled courses and options that EduKan provided, but now in a way that’s completely consistent with the Seward way of educating and supporting our students,” Dowell said. In time, SCCC plans to offer the full range of courses offered through EduKan.

The Saints Anywhere courses are offered at a price point comparable to EduKan, with registration and billing now simpler and streamlined with SCCC’s on-campus course options.

“The bottom line is that we’re able to better meet our students’ needs and ensure the quality of education expected through SCCC,” Dowell said. “We are excited to see how this grows.”

Enrollment for winter session is open now, and enrollment for spring 2024 on campus and spring 2024 online through Saints Anywhere opens Nov. 6. For information or assistance, call SCCC Admissions at 620-417-1100, or (for continuing students) the SCCC Advising department at 620-417-1065.
