Southwest Kansas Coalition Holds Meeting In Liberal

The Southwest Kansas Coalition, an advocacy group consisting of the elected City Commissions of the cities of Liberal, Dodge City, and Garden City met Wednesday evening at 6:00pm at the Rock Island Depot in Liberal. SKC members discussed position statements relating to a number of issuesfor which the SKC will be advocating during the upcoming 2010 Session of the Kansas Legislature. Robin Jennison, lobbyist for the SKC was also in attendance Wednesday evening. Among the items discussed was the Kansas Department of Transportation development of a Comprehensive Transportation Plan. After much discussion, the Coalition came to a consensus to support as their number one priority, the 4 laning of US 54/$00 from Kingman to Mullinville. The SKC policy will be brought back to each of the cities commission meetings for more discussion and a formal vote.
