Brock Kappelmann - January 18, 2018 10:01 pm

For the third consecutive season the Liberal Redskins have lost in the first round of the Salina invitational tournament. The Buhler Crusaders outpaced  the Redskins 48-37 Thursday night at Salina Central High School.

Buoyed by Wichita North transfer Kace Vongsokda playing in his first game, the Redskins jumped to early leads of 6-0 and 9-3. The Skins led 14-7 after one quarter and 19-16 at halftime. Buhler jumped all over LHS in the third quarter at a 21-9 clip. Liberal cut the lead to 39-36 with a deep Cameron Riley three, but never drew closer.

Vongsakda had 17 in the loss. Riley had eight.

The Redskins are 3-7 and the Crusaders are 7-3. Liberal plays Friday night at 8:15 against the Concordia Panthers at Salina Central High School. Redskin Pregame begins at 8 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
