Sheila Frahm To Speak At SCCC/ATS Graduation

Sheila Frahm, former executive director of the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees, will be the speaker for 38th annual graduation at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School, 10 a.m., Saturday, May 9 in the SCCC/ATS gymnasium.

Frahm grew up in Western Kansas as a ź??farm kidź?ť, married her childhood sweetheart, Ken, and raised three children.

Throughout her professional and political career, Frahm, a Fort Hays State University graduate, has always worked with educational issues and helped form policy: local school board member, State Board of Education; Kansas Senate as Majority Leader and Vice Chair of the Senate Education Committee. Frahm also chaired the Governorź??s Public Education Advisory Commission for Governor Hayden and served as the education ź??point personź?ť while Lt. Governor with Governor Graves. Sheila also served in the United States Senate following the resignation of Sen. Bob Dole when he ran for President.

This year, Frahm retired as executive director of the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees. She notes she was in a great place during exciting times in Kansas Higher Education. Community colleges play an important role for Kansasź?? students and she has enjoyed helping them have a united and strong voice.
