Shed Fire Sunday at 1204 Fairview

At 3:03 pm Sunday, Liberal Firefighters were dispatched to a reported shed fire at 1204 Fairview. On arrival firefighters found an approximately 10’ X 15’ shed fully engulfed with downed and arcing power lines in the backyard of the residence.

Firefighters were able to apply water from a distance to control the fire until the power to the lines could be secured. Firefighters were eventually able to completely extinguish the fire and check for extension to the residence and surrounding properties. The shed & contents were a total loss. The fire was declared under control at 3:23 pm. Fire units remained on scene mopping up hot spots and investigating for some time. The fire is considered accidental in nature. All units were returned to service at 5:05 pm.

Liberal Fire responded with a total of 10 personnel, two engines & 2 support / chief officer vehicles. Other agencies assisting with the fire are the Liberal Police Department, Southern Pioneer Electric, Black Hills Energy and the Liberal / Seward County Emergency Communications Center.
