Seymour Rogers Scholar’s Bowl Results

Brock Kappelmann - January 24, 2020 11:59 am

8A from Coach Watt –

The Apaches went down to the wire against the Dodge City Cardinals Tuesday night at Seymour Rogers Middle School. The first half was laden with Apache turnovers and miscues leading to a halftime deficit of 6-15. Dodge started the second half with a three-pointer to go up by 12, 6-18. It was at this point a fire was lit and the Apache comeback began. The three points were the only points the Cardinals would score in the third quarter as SRMS climbed within four, 14-18, heading into the fourth quarter. With just about a minute left the Apaches had to start fouling and sending Dodge City to the line to save clock. Jovanny Garcia went to the line with SRMS down two with 0.3 seconds on the clock. Garcia sunk the first and missed the second as the Apaches fell 24-25. George Tejeda led the Apaches with seven points and played all but two minutes in the contest. The Apaches have played two great quarters in both of their first two contests. When SRMS learns to put a complete game together they will be a competitive force. The Apaches open WAC play 0-1 and will face their rivals Eisenhower Monday night at SRMS.

8B from Coach Shelby –
Seymour Rogers Apaches jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead on Dodge Middle after the 1st quarter.  The Apaches took their foot off the gas in the second and tried to play hero ball instead of running the offense. Luckily for the Apaches, Ramsey Galindo and Isaac Dominguez played great defense and were  grabbing all  the 50/50 balls.  This effort allowed SRMS to take a 14-2 lead into the half.  Then Seymour scored  a couple quick buckets at the start of the 2nd half to erase any doubt of the out come.  Apaches B team rolled to their 1st win of the season and 1st conference win, 29-13

7A from Coach Kachel –
Seymour Rogers Middle School 7th grade basketball team won their first game of the season. The Apaches defeated the Dodge City Middle School Cardinals by a score of 29 to 24. Jakyree Washington led the scoring with 10 points and Hudson Rice had 8. Seymor Rogers was behind 7-8 after one quarter. The Apaches took the lead at half time 18 to14. The score was 22 to 18 at the end of the third quarter. The Cardinals took the lead in the 4th quarter 22 to 24 but would not score again. With under one minute to play Hudson Rice put the Apaches up by two and seconds later Jakyree Washington hit a 3 pointer to seal the win.

7B from Coach Richards –
It was a game that started off well with the Apaches playing a tough game and having a 1 point lead in the first half.  Alex Korener played his best defensive game last night, Alexsis Galindo made 2 points, Angel Soto 2 points, Enrique Morales added another 2, and Junior King was the lead scorer with 7 points.  Our offense was run much better last night, just was not enough to overcome Dodge and we lost 26-18.
