Seward Tennis Earns ITA Academic Awards

KSCB News - August 22, 2013 6:30 am

Following a successful year on the hard court at Seward
County, the Saints and Lady Saints Tennis teams proved Tuesday that they
were just as successful in the classroom as the ITA released their 2013
All-Academic Teams as well as Scholar Athlete awards.
The Lady Saints were one of just five teams nationally
to earn the prestigious All-Academic Team award. Seward was joined by
Copiah-Lincoln, Diablo Valley, Harford, and Seminole State on the list.
Individually Seward had three players who were recognized. Katiuska
Adarmes, Whitney Garinger, and Alma Varela were each named to the ITA
Scholar Athlete award winner list.
On the Men’s side, the Saints weren’t represented quite
as well, but the two players who did earn the awards were at the top of
the academic chain. Josh Hamilton and Justin Pena each won ITA Scholar
Athlete awards and both put together perfect 4.0 Spring semesters in
2013.
