Seward County Fire Says Be Prepared In Case of Wildfires

Joe Denoyer - January 17, 2018 2:32 pm

Seward County Fire Rescue is asking all rural residents to take the week of January 22nd to prepare their properties for the dangers of wildfires.

Forecasted conditions are more extreme then seen in 2017, and rural residents need to take steps to prepare:

Clear all dry grasses 100 feet around homes and barns, mow an additional 25 feet out.

Clear fence lines and create fire breaks along those fence lines.

Make sure access to your property is clear for larger fire apparatus, and dry grasses are mowed down 25 feet on each side.

Have an escape plan if the case may arise.
