Seward County COVID-19 Update
LOCAL TESTING
Over the last month, the number of new positive cases in Seward County has been trending down compared to the same time span through November and December. November saw the highest monthly total for new positive cases at 844, followed by December at 427. The third highest month was April at 426. To date, January has recorded 189 positive results.
Testing continues to occur throughout the community—Seward County Ag Building (Health Department), Southwest Medical Center, Express Wellness, Genesis Family Health, and many private doctor’s offices. If you need to be tested, do not hesitate to contact your personal healthcare provider or one of these other local providers.
COVID VACCINE
The Seward County Health Department, Genesis Family Health, and Southwest Medical Center continue to receive vaccine shipments from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. These vaccines are being administered according to the state’s vaccine plan. More than 800 vaccinations have been administered in Seward County including medical personnel, first responders, and long-term care facility residents and staff.
If you would like to monitor the state’s vaccine activity, a website/dashboard is available online through this link kansasvaccine.gov. Additionally, a link is provided to the state’s vaccine rollout plan.
For Seward County residents eager to receive the vaccination, steps can be taken now. First, visit ConnectSeward.net and review the vaccine information. Second, complete the Vaccine Waiting List form. This will ensure that your information has been collected, and you will be contacted when your details match the appropriate phase of the state’s vaccine plan.
Several local pharmacies have been approved to administer vaccines; however, doses for the public are not available at those locations yet. More information will be provided when vaccines are available.
