Seward County Commission Proclaims February as Black History Month

The Seward County Commissioners met on Monday evening and read a Proclamation stating February as Black History month in Seward County. Regarding the booking fee for the Activity Center, the Commission voted to give Irma 2 choices, 1.) Pay the fee for the first 3 events and then waive the fee for the 4th and decrease the rental fee by $2,500. 2.) Pay the fee and then 1/2 rolls over to the next event.

The Commission voted to set up a separate checking account for the Treasurer’s Office to pay refunds with the account to close 180 days after the last check is written.

Commissioners approved starting wages for Road and Bridge, Landfill, and Waste Hauling at $18/hr.

Commissioners approved the Fiscal Year 2027 Comprehensive Plan Grant Application for Cimarron Basin Community Corrections for submission to the Kansas Department of Corrections. For the Noxious Weed Department, the Commissioners approved the 2025 Eradication Report, the 2026 Annual Noxious Weed Plan, and the Seward County Noxious Weed-KDOT Agreement for 2026.

The Commission approved replacement of these firewalls for the Administration Building, Landfill, and for the Activity Center. The total cost for all three is $9,586.30.

Also approved were the 2025 Fixed Assets as presented.
