Seward County Commission Meets, Asks For Extension for HB2252

The Seward County Commission met on Monday at 5:30pm for their regular meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the Commission approved the acceptance of the Emergency Shelter Grant from the state for Stepping Stone Shelter, approved the purchase of 2 Dodge Avengers from Chrysler Corner in the amount of $30,800.00 for the Cimarron Basin Community Corrections, appointed Josh Underwood to fill the unexpired term of Don Parsons on the Planning and Zoning Board, and accepted the bid from Cox Construction for the Courthouse windows. In an added item from Commissioner Jim Rice, the Commission approved sending a letter to the Kansas Attorney General???s office requesting an extension from House Bill 2252 which would allow conceal and carry in public buildings. If granted, the extension would be to January 2014 and would give Seward County commissioners time to come up with a plan on how to come into compliance with the new law. The next regular meeting of the Seward County Board of County Commission will be July 1st.
