Seward County Commission Meets, Approves Truancy Funding

The Seward County Board Of County Commissioners met Tuesday evening at 5:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the commission approved the purchase of a used tanker trailer from Groendyke in the amount of $20,000.00, approved a conditional use permit for a machine shop, approved the membership dues into Great Plains Development for 2012 and will keep the interest rate at 6%, and approved a $1000.00 donation for the Be Liberal, Public Square Communities. The Board of Commissioners also heard from Ivanhoe Love Jr. on Truancy. After a lengthy discussion and presentation about the program with input from Judge Ambrosier, the County Commissioners voted to approve funding of the Truancy Program through Ivanhoe Love Jr.’s Adolescent Support Services in the amount of $57,333.33. The City of Liberal previously approved their portion with the final piece of the puzzle to come from the USD 480 School Board. They will meet in a Special Meeting Wednesday.
