Seward County Approves Board Appointments

The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening and made Board appointments. The Commission appointed Carmelita Goossen, to the Seward County Five-State Fair Board and Connie McPhail and Melinda Cline, to the Council on Aging Board.

The Board of County Commissioners chose to bid the County insurance policies for their 2026 insurance renewal period and after hearing presentations tabled the decision until the December 15th meeting.

Due to illness the Commissioners tabled the request for the purchase of a mower for the Activity Center also to the next meeting.

The Commission approved  that the Seward County Fire District enter into an agreement with the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office to formalize their role in statewide emergency response and to ensure reimbursement for personnel, equipment, and operational costs incurred during large-scale incidents.

Approved was Lease No. 144.00 for the Seward County Activity Center. The amount of the Lease is $3,020.89 annually. As a result of a request to live stream all Planning & Zoning meetings by Commissioner Stanton, the Commission agreed to let Planning and Zoning use the Commission Chambers and utilize the streaming capabilities in that room for the December 8th meeting.
