Seward Bats Wake Up in Game Two

After mustering two hits in a 3-1 game one loss, Seward came back with a 12 hit attack in game two and an 8-3 win over visiting Garden City.

In game one, Garden City scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh. They won despite five errors.

In game two, Seward scored three in the second, four in the third, and one in the fourth in route to the 8-3 win. Becky Allen was 3-4 with two runs. Ashley Kirkes was 2-4 with two runs and an RBI. Felisha Vogelaar was 2-3 with a double. Brittany Hopkins scattered seven hits but didn’t walk anyone in the win.

Seward is 18-13 overall and 1-3 in the Jayhawk West while Garden City is 9-12 overall and 5-1 in the Jayhawk West. Former Saint and Sublette native Becky Holland is in her first year as Garden’s head coach.

Seward hosts Barton (6-8, 0-4) Friday at 2 p.m. at Lady Saints Field.
