Saints Sweep Barton

The Saints are 11-1 in the Jayhawk West after beating Barton 6-3 and 7-4 Tuesday afternoon and evening at Brent Gould Field. Seward won game one 6-3 on a wild day for Texas Tech signee Hayden Holub. The Seymour, Texas right hander walked three and beaned four but struck out nine and allowed just two runs and four hits as he improves to 3-4. Seward scored two in the first, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth. Luke Campbell was 2-4 with an RBI. In game two, Jose Gonzalez pitched seven of the nine innings imroving to 2-3. Gonzalez struck out six and allowed one earned run. The Saints scored three in the second and three in the fourth before adding a run in the eighth. Todd Glime, Kelby Tomlinson, Quay Grant, and Josh Dawson had two hits a piece. Grant drove home three runs and Jordan Dallalio broke open a 4-2 game with a two RBI double in the fourth. Dallalio says the Saints pride themselves in protecting their turf. “We’ve struggled outside of conference,” the freshman second baseman said. “But when we’re here at home we’re protecting our home turf. We’re really gelling and know we have a home to protect.” Seward is 15-14 overall and 11-1 in the conference while Barton falls to 13-10 overall and 6-6 in the Jayhawk West.
