Saints Survive Homecoming Scare

KSCB News - February 22, 2010 12:00 am

Seward beat Dodge City despite 16-34 shooting from the free throw line and being out-rebounded by 15. The Saints won 69-63 Saturday in front of a big Green House crowd thanks to their defense. Seward forced 22 turnovers and only turned it over seven times. The Saints led the steals category 13-2. Robert Sigala led the Saints with 17 points while Latiq Agard added 13 points and Spencer Moore scored 12. Seward head coach Bryan Zollinger says his team perservered. “I hope it gives them confidence,” Zollinger said after his team’s second straight win without Tony Smith. “I hope it gives them some positive mental energy to build on. We’ve had a tough schedule this year and some injuries. There’s been a lot of obstacles to fight through. But our practices this week were great. Guys were physical and agressive. Early in the game, things weren’t going our way and they had to fight through and play hard tonight and they did.” The Saints assure themselves of no worse than third place in the Jayhawk West. Seward is 21-7 overall and 10-4 in the Jayhawk West. The Conquistadors fall to 19-10 overall and 7-8 in the Jayhawk West. Seward goes to Garden City Wednesday for a 7:30 game on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
