Redskins Get Out of Guymon with a Win

KSCB News - February 6, 2013 7:24 am

After the game, LHS head coach Drew Gruver said he wasn’t sure what just happened. Somehow, his team fell behind by 9 (54-45) with three minutes to play and rallied for a 69-65 overtime victory over a hearbroken group of Guymon Tigers in Guymon Tuesday night. The Redskins used a full court press to force about 18 Guymon turnovers and the Tigers mis-fired late in the game at the foul line.

Liberal led 13-12 after one quarter but missed 11 two foot shots in the first half and trailed 31-25 at halftime. The Tigers led 42-39 after three quarters.

J.J. Lewis scored 18 while Trenton Hammond added 11 and Blake Stout scored nine on 6-6 at the foul line.

Guymon’s Austin Nolan scored 15 and Angel Vega added 14 for the 7-14 Tigers.

Liberal is 5-11 and wins consecutive games for the first time this season. Liberal plays at Hays Friday night at about 7:45 on Talkradio 1270.
