Redskins Can’t Keep Up with Holcomb

Holcomb used their speed and outside shooting to build a lead and hold on to defeat the Liberal Redskins 59-46 Tuesday evening in Holcomb.  It was a tough shooting night for LHS who missed many two footers and made 4-18 three pointers.

The Longhorns led early 9-2 and 18-10 after one quarter.  The Skins cut the lead to 22-19 early in the second quarter.  Alex Lopez hit a three right before half and the Horns led 28-22 at the half.  Holcomb took firm control of the game in the third quarter.  The Longhorns built a lead of 38-24 and led 38-29 after three.  Holcomb led 44-29  and 49-34 in the fourth quarter.  Liberal cut the lead to eight twice at 49-41 and 52-44.

Holcomb made 7-19 three pointers and 15-22 free throws.  The Redskins were 4-18 from three point range and 10-12 at the foul line.

AJ Ramirez led Liberal with 15.  Alex Lopez added 10.

Liberal is 1-1 and plays at Wichita Trinity Thursday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and  Holcomb is 2-0 and breaks a two game losing skid against LHS.
