Redskin Tennis Fourth at Garden City

The Liberal Redskins struggled in high winds and lost a couple of close matches to keep them out of team honors. Garden City took 1st with 28 points, Dodge City took 2nd with 24 points, and Pratt with 21 points. Liberal finished with 17 team points.

Individual Results:

#1 Singles–Buddy Buchanan lost a close battle with Dodge City 8-6, then lost to a quality opponent from Wichita East. Fighting through the back of the bracket, Buchanan dominated Hays 8-2, then found himself in a rematch with his nemesis from Dodge City. This time Buchanan prevailed in an exciting tie breaker, winning 8-7 (7-2) to finish 5th Place.

#2 Singles–Carlos Hernandez struggled in the high winds going 1-3 on the day.

#1 Doubles–Payton Grant & Mitchell Irby went 2-2 on the day finishing 5th Place. They struggled early losing to Hays and Garden City but had dominating wins against Great Bend a Wichita East.

#2 Doubles–Ho Ho & Sergio Borjas lost a close match to Dodge City 8-5, then rebounded through the back of the bracket defeating Pratt 8-3, defeating Colby 8-5, and defeating Great Bend 8-3 to take 3rd Place.

Liberal travels to Emporia on Tuesday.
