Redskin Boys Gain Much Needed Win

Brock Kappelmann - January 27, 2018 7:42 am

In their first game at home with Kace Vongsakda, the Liberal Redskins put together a solid outing in defeating the Hugoton Eagles 62-57 Friday night in the Big House.  It was Hugoton’s first visit to the Big House since 1999.  The outing also means LHS has played good basketball in five of their last six halves.  So they are getting closer.

The Redskins led the Eagles 20-15 after one and 31-25 at halftime.  The Redskins built a 43-30 lead before leading the Eagles 43-36 at the end of three.  The Eagles clawed back to within one at 45-44 but Syris Dunlap’s three point play on a put back made it 48-44 with 4:07 to play.  The Redskins never looked back.

Kace Vongsakda had 18.  Tristen Bigham scored 14.  Cameron Riley scored nine.  For Hugoton, Carlos Montiel had 18 and Mitchell Hamlin had 13.

Liberal is 5-8 and Hugoton is 5-7.  Liberal hosts Great Bend Friday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.  Hugoton plays at Holcomb Tuesday.
