Brock Kappelmann - June 11, 2018 8:06 am

The Liberal Rattlers 16’s and 18’s were both in Dodge City this weekend for a tournament. The 16u Rattlers ended up 0-3 on the weekend but played very well against the older completion. The 18u Rattlers came a away the Tournament Champions. Saturday in pool play Liberal beat Thomas Moore Prep in game 1, 3-1. Max Valles was the winning pitcher for Liberal. In game 2 Liberal played Russell and came up just short 3-4 with Tucker Deaton on the mound. With the loss Liberal was the 2 seed and had to play the extra game on Sunday. But the Liberal Rattlers played flawless baseball on Sunday with 3 shutouts. Sundays game 1 Alex Yanez took the win on the mound for an 8-0 win over the Liberal 16u. In Sunday’s game 2 Pancho Tarrazas was the winning pitcher for Liberal 8-0 over Moscow. In the Championship Liberal would get revenge for their loss to Russell the night before with another shutout thrown by Kaleb Wilmes for a 12-0 win. Joining the list of Dylan Thompson and Pancho Tarrazas who have hit home runs this year and Elijah McCarter who went Yard in Liberal last weekend, Brodie Warren takes it out Left Center at Demon Field in the 2nd inning of the Championship game. Liberal 16u and 18u will share a Double Header tonight with Hooker tonight here at National Beef Family Complex and the 18’s will travel back to Dodge Tuesday night for a Double Header. Thursday The Rattlers 18’s will be headed to Colorado Springs for a 4 day tournament.
