Rainbow Players, Liberal’s Community Theater Group, will be presenting “The Drowsy Chaperone” with 4 performances scheduled to be performed at the Rapid Fit Showcase on the campus of Seward County Community College.
The Drowsy Chaperone is a Tony-winning 2006 Broadway musical that lovingly satirizes 1920s Jazz Age musicals through the eyes of a modern “Man in Chair” who plays his favorite cast recording. The “Man in Chair” connects with the audience as he listens to the record, causing the characters to come to life in his apartment. The plot involves a chaotic wedding, including a starlet bride, a bumbling best man, a desperate producer, gangsters disguised as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan, and the title character—an intoxicated chaperone.
Performances are scheduled Thursday, July 9th, Friday, July 10th, and Saturday, July 11th at 7:30 pm with a matinee on Sunday, July 12th at 2:30 pm. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance.
Tickets can be purchased at the door and the cost is as follows:
