Powell Calls Out Praeger

KSCB News - May 21, 2010 12:00 am

Republican candidate for Insurance Commissioner David Powell from El Dorado was in Liberal Thursday night to speak to the ‘We the People’ group.

Powell told the group of 25 that his opponent incumbent Republican Sandy Praeger is a Liberal Republican and that she supported the new health care law. Powell even showed a picture of Praeger meeting with Kathleen Sebelius and Barack Obama about health care at the White House back in March. The picture appeared in the New York Times.

Powell also stated to the group that he would bet $100 right now that if Obama Care were to be carried out to its full extent that a McDonalds hamburger will cost at least $25 by 2014. The reasoning Powell gave was because the law is going to require businesses to not only pick up a percentage of health care for full-time employees, but also part-time.

Mid-America Air Museum Director Jim Bert also gave a short presentation about the Air Museum. Bert said that the museum had just over 9,000 visitors last year. There were around 1,200 students who toured it. The museum had just over $72,000 in cash revenue as well.
