Pennies from Heaven helps Liberal Latchkey

When you shop at the Liberal JC Penney from now until August 27 and round your purchase up to the next whole dollar, the JC Penney "Pennies From Heaven Program" will donate the difference to the Liberal Latchkey Program to provide children in this community with access to life-enriching afters-chool programs.

This program, through its partnership with United Ways, has given millions to after-school programs nation wide. "This year’s goal was 100,000,000 pennies and they’ve already raised 389,803,140 to date, according to their web site," said Kay Burtzloff, Seward County United Way director. "Just tell the JC Penney Associate at the cash register that you want to round up your purchase to the next dollar. “It’s amazing how just a few cents from each person can add up.”

The Liberal Latchkey program has received over a $1,000 year through the program. Two more "Pennies from Heaven" events are planned for this year, Oct. 12-25 and Nov. 30-Dec. 12. Those proceeds will also go to the Liberal Latchkey program.
