Inez I. (Peggy) Thompson

Inez I. (Peggy) Thompson, age 88, passed away Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler, Kansas.

She was born March 14, 1935, at Jennings, Kansas, the daughter of George J. and Essie M. (Denny) Tacha. As a young girl, she attended grade school in Meade, Kansas, and later in Kismet, graduating from Kismet High School in 1953. A longtime are resident, she was a secretary for the Kismet, Plains, Holcomb, Garden City, and Liberal school systems and later for PanHandle Eastern Pipeline.

On November 24, 1955, she married Floyd Earl Pippitt at Liberal, Kansas. After several years of marriage, the couple later divorced. On May 4, 1986, she married LeRoy Thompson at Texarkana, Arkansas. He precedes her in death on May 31, 2009.

She was member of the Church of the Nazarene and attended the Beam Senior Center. She enjoyed singing, crocheting, working in her yard, collecting dishes and clocks, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Jeanie Witchey of Laverne, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; a daughter Brenda Graham; son-in-laws Alan and Gene; a granddaughter Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Conner and Case; her parents; four brothers, Richard Tacha, Darrel Tacha, George J. Tacha, Jr., and Kenneth M. (Bub) Tacha; and five sisters, Dottie Gillen, Kathleen Boyd, Marjorie Bruce, Betty Kortz, and Gertrude (Gertie) Hunter.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to the Beam Senior Center or the Meade County Emergency services in care of the funeral home.
