New Year’s safety initiative highlighted the importance of driving sober

Seward County Sheriff’s Office joined law enforcement across the state during the Taking Down DUI campaign. From Dec. 26-Jan. 2, deputies increased presence on local roads educating about the importance of sober driving.

Seward County Sheriff’s Office recorded the following statistics during the campaign:

DUI’s – 6
Minor in Possession Citations – 2
Transporting Open Container Citations – 4
Speeding Citations – 72
Seatbelt Citations – 5
Other Violations / Arrests – 115
Total Warnings / Citations / Drug Arrests – 225
Total Traffic stops (Contacts) – 181
